Digi4Care: Partners review Alzheimer’s care pilots in Czechia

In April of this year, our CEO, Mira Ganova, joined a project meeting in the Czech Republic to review progress on the Digi4Care project.
What Is Digi4Care about?
Digi4Care is a collaborative European initiative focused on enhancing care for individuals living with diabetes, cardiovascular disease, Alzheimer’s disease, dementia and other cognitive disorders. by integrating smart, digital solutions into everyday healthcare.
These partner meetings are held regularly throughout the project to give each participating country the chance to present their pilot work, share progress, and exchange feedback. The goal is to make sure the lessons learned in each country can help improve care models across the entire Digi4Care network.
By reviewing each pilot step by step, the project partners can ensure that the digital solutions being tested are both practical and adaptable to different healthcare systems.
Czech Peer review: Key takeaways
One of the most interesting takeaways from the meeting was the Czech Republic’s holistic approach to care. The country is working to build a new, unified system that brings social and healthcare services together into one patient-centered model. This approach combines funding and management of both sectors and focuses on developing specialized facilities where technology is fully integrated into patient care.
By using innovative digital tools as part of everyday care, these facilities can gather and analyze important health data to better track Alzheimer’s, dementia, and other cognitive diseases. The goal is to improve care not just for elderly patients, but for people of all ages living with cognitive challenges.
Our Czech partners showed a strong commitment to making real progress during the Digi4Care pilot phase. Their work is expected to not only strengthen dementia and Alzheimer’s care in the Czech Republic but also provide a model that other countries and project partners can adapt and apply.
If this approach can be successfully scaled, Digi4Care could help change the way cognitive diseases are tracked, managed, and treated across Europe.

Bulgaria’s participation in the project
Bulgaria will also host a project meeting as part of Digi4Care. The Bulgarian team is preparing its pilot, which will focus on using digital technologies to support early diagnosis and continuous monitoring of diabetes and cardiovascular diseases.
This is a great chance to highlight Bulgaria’s role in the project and to explore how digital tools can realistically support patient care within our own healthcare and social systems.
The DHI Cluster team found this experience in the Czech Republic extremely valuable and is looking forward to seeing the positive results from their pilot.
This work could play an important role in shaping new, integrated care models that combine social and healthcare services, powered by digital technology.
