Digital Health and Innovation Course at MU-Sofia

The Digital Health and Innovation Cluster Bulgaria, Novartis Bulgaria, and JA Bulgaria have implemented the first course of its kind at the Medical University of Sofia, which encompasses training in digitalization, entrepreneurship, and innovation.
The course started at the end of 2019 as an elective and aimed to increase students’ knowledge on topics related to leadership, entrepreneurship, and initiative, while also presenting opportunities for creating digital innovations in medicine. The lectures include innovative global practices for the development of innovations in medicine, as well as best practices from Bulgaria.
For the second semester of the course, the organizers have prepared topics related to trends and approaches in new technologies and innovations in healthcare and medicine, opportunities for digitalization, optimization, and automation of processes in the sector, creating conditions for developing entrepreneurial and critical thinking, as well as solutions that simplify doctors’ daily workflows.
In 2020, the course on innovations (digitalization) and entrepreneurship continues, offering students a series of “UN!lectures,” presented through an innovative format, entirely online for students. We call it the UN!course, which started in October and will run until the end of the 2020/2021 academic year.
Innovations and Digital Solutions in Medical Education
The TOPICS that will be covered during the 2020/2021 academic year are related to the digitalization of medicine, e-health, creating innovations in medicine, developing entrepreneurship and initiative as a way of thinking when working in large hospitals, teams, and institutions, fostering effective communication with clients, innovative hospital systems, and more. All lectures will be open to questions and discussions of topics of interest to the students, and for different subjects, we are prepared to invite lecturers from business and practice to share their experiences and knowledge. Students from other universities are also invited to join and contribute to the development of the UN!course.
