DIGI4Care Enters Its Final Phase: 5th Interregional Partner Meeting in Bratislava

In February 2026, the team of Digital Health and Innovation Cluster Bulgaria participated in the 5th Interregional Partner Meeting (IPM) of the DIGI4Care project, held in Bratislava. The meeting marked the official launch of the project’s final and most decisive phase - the phase of evaluation, consolidation, and sustainable integration of results.

From Pilots to Scalable Models

The central focus of the meeting was the comprehensive evaluation of pilot implementations across partner countries. Participants assessed outcomes through multiple lenses - technical performance, economic feasibility, and institutional/system-level scalability.

Dedicated Pilot Evaluation sessions enabled in-depth discussions on:

  • which solutions demonstrate measurable added value;

  • which models are ready for scaling;

  • how digital tools can be sustainably embedded into routine clinical practice.

This stage is critical for transforming pilot initiatives into structured, transferable models capable of long-term impact across healthcare systems in the Danube Region.

Consolidation of Results and the Knowledge Platform

A key part of the agenda addressed the integration and consolidation of project results. Discussions covered the readiness of training materials, the development of integrated care pathways, and the incorporation of pilot outcomes into the shared Knowledge Platform.

Peer-review workshops and cross-country exchanges provided structured feedback aimed at:

  • strengthening methodologies,

  • harmonizing approaches across regions,

  • ensuring comparability of results in different healthcare contexts.

This collaborative validation process is essential for ensuring that DIGI4Care outputs remain applicable beyond the initial pilot environments.

Capacity Building and Digital Skills for Healthcare Professionals

The meeting further advanced work on capacity-building and professional training. Particular emphasis was placed on:

  • increasing digital technology acceptance among healthcare professionals,

  • enhancing practical digital competencies,

  • supporting the integration of digital tools into everyday clinical workflows.

Partners also explored how the developed training materials can serve as a foundation for national-level workshops, toolbox trainings, and broader stakeholder engagement activities.

Looking Ahead: Education and Policy Alignment

Another major discussion stream focused on the future of digital health adoption. Partners examined opportunities to improve higher education curricula by embedding digital health competencies into formal medical education, enabling students to develop digital skills from the early stages of their training.

Policy-oriented sessions addressed:

  • the formulation of actionable policy recommendations,

  • the development of national action plans,

  • the creation of strategic frameworks supporting the uptake of digital technologies across participating partner countries and the wider Danube Region.

The aim is to ensure that project results are not limited to pilot environments but are translated into long-term structural improvements.

Setting the Foundation for the Final Project Months

With clear timelines, responsibilities, and next steps defined, the Bratislava IPM established a solid foundation for the final months of DIGI4Care. The focus now shifts to:

  • transforming pilots into scalable implementation models,

  • strengthening policy-level impact,

  • ensuring the long-term sustainability of project outcomes.

The 5th IPM confirmed that DIGI4Care has entered its most strategic phase - moving from testing to integration, and from experimentation to systemic adoption.
