MY Synergy Develops AI Solution to Support Academic Assessment at Medical University – Pleven

Bulgarian technology company MY Synergy, a member of Digital Health and Innovation Cluster Bulgaria, has developed and implemented a specialized AI solution in collaboration with the Faculty of Pharmacy at Medical University – Pleven.

The solution supports lecturers in the creation of exam questions, tests, case studies, and other materials for student assessment. By using existing academic resources, it automates part of the preparation process, reduces the time needed to develop examination content, and helps academic staff use accumulated knowledge more effectively.

The project is among the first practical applications of artificial intelligence in Bulgarian higher education aimed at improving the daily work of lecturers. It shows how AI can be introduced into an academic environment in a controlled and useful way — not to replace the role of the lecturer, but to support the completion of repetitive and time-consuming tasks.

In its first phase, the solution was implemented for the discipline “Social Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Legislation.” The system analyzes textbooks, manuals, lectures, presentations, and specialized documentation provided by the university. Based on this content, it automatically generates different types of exam questions, tests, case studies, and practical assignments. The platform also allows grouping by topics and lectures, the creation of different versions of questions, and adaptation of materials for different student groups.

The result is a significant reduction in the time needed to prepare examination materials, as well as more efficient use of existing educational resources. The project also creates a foundation for broader implementation of AI technologies across different disciplines and faculties at the university.

Following the successful completion of the first phase, the AI solution may be expanded to additional disciplines, departments and faculties, turning it into a model for wider application of AI technologies in higher education.
